Rameau Castor et Pollux - The Early Opera Company / Christian Curnyn
As Castor, Samuel Boden sang notably communicative French, his light tenor phrasing with a near-ideal period elegance.

Couperin, Blow and Charpentier, - Arcangelo at the Wigmore Hall
...and Samuel Boden. More pristine vocal flourishes than his would be hard to come by... Boden and baritone Stéphane Degout perfected a lean, mean tone, well suited to the austerity of the text.

And what a tenor! The enormous part, full of nuances, was beautifully sung by Samuel Boden."

British tenor Samuel Boden is perfectly cast as Orpheus : not only does he have a wonderful timbre, but he also brings to the fore the changing moods of the title hero with great conviction."
Cultureel Persbureau(trans)2 May 2015
The tireless Samuel Boden was totally convincing as the shell-shocked Orpheus. His voice is modest in size, but, crucial for this role, with a honey-toned, easy upper range. Although plaintive lyricism brought out the best in his voice, he could also handle the coloratura showpiece "L'espoir renaît dans mon âme", and this while carrying Cupid on his shoulders.

Bach Christmas Oratorio - Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra
Perhaps unexpectedly, this performance belonged to the Evangelist, the young English tenor Samuel Boden, who certainly had the most work out of the four soloists.  His performance was so excellent that it is well worth highlighting.  It is rare to hear the role of Evangelist sung so clearly that one feels it totally unnecessary to follow the text in the programme booklet.  So it was here.  A sense of great reassurance was afforded to the listener as a result of the quality of his intonation and euphonic sound - here everything was in place.  The indescribably difficult aria in Cantata no. 2, Frohe Hirten, with solo flute was seemingly effortless, despite its fiendish runs sung at a breakneck pace.

Daniel Purcell The Judgement of Paris  - CD review
Samuel Boden makes a fine Paris with a lovely lyric tenor voice. His lovely seductive tones and lyrical cantilena impress particularly in his final aria when he makes his judgement in fine style.

They also sing wonderfully, most notably... the haute-contre Samuel Boden
The Independent, 26 March 2014
I’ve previously praised Samuel Boden's “sweet, refined tone” and he used it to advantage in his singing of Ormindo, phrasing his music with elegance and creating a warmly sympathetic hero;

Acis & Galatea - The Early Opera Company, Wigmore Hall
Boden sang with sweet, refined tone, especially in an eloquent 'Consider, fond shepherd'. 'Would you gain the tender creature'... would surely have charmed anyone but this unfeeling brute.
Opera Today, 29 November 2013
Samuel Boden offered beautifully delicate singing as Acis's shepherdic sidekick, Damon
The Times, 29 November 2013
And Samuel Boden's voice... would ornament any drawing room - his Damon was impeccable.

Turn of the Screw - Mexico
The tenor Samuel Boden sang the Prologue and the role of Peter Quint with finesse - beautiful legato lines, clear diction and a gorgeous tone. His acting was also impressive, implying the hidden depravity and power of Quint.
